Charnwood Great War Centenary Project
4 August 2014
The Charnwood Great War Project received £96,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a two year project in Loughborough and Charnwood.
A partnership of Charnwood Arts, Participation in Action, Bill Brookman Productions and All Saints with Holy Trinity Church, Charnwood Great War Centenary Project will work with local volunteers and organisations to create a diverse yet linked programme of research, events and publications, and will re-site memorials to the town’s war dead within All Saints with Holy Trinity in Loughborough.
The project will enable local people to discover more about the ways in which the First World War shaped the locality and will include work on the role of women and local industries during the period, debates on the theme of war, work with local schools and research into the stories of the fallen from the borough.
The project was publicly launched at the ‘Picnic in the Park’ event in Queens Park, Loughborough on Saturday 14th June 2014.
